The 2009 Ford Escape I’m renting through Turo tomorrow to compensate for the absence of my chronically-broken Jeep.

Someday I will sate my curiosity and rent a Maserati on Touro.

And, just a few minutes later the owner canceled because the brakes aren’t working correctly. 2020.

I’m curious to try this one out someday.

That sounds about right

Hey, at least it means you won't end up with an Escape. They aren't the greatest. . .

It has a sunroof, which in the absence of my Jeep sounded nice.
Instead, Corolla. Woo.

Just curious, because I didn’t realize Turo let people rent out cars that old...had you gotten the Escape, what were you going to pay for it per day?

2007 is, I believe, the cut-off currently, and vehicles are grandfathered in once they’re in the system (although it wouldn’t surprise me that there’s some limit to that).
Also, they allow classics made before, I think, 1980 , although none are here in Indianapolis.
Anyway, your question: I think it was $29/day base rate, plus $10 or $15 directly to Turo, and I got the premium insurance just to make sure whatever happened I wasn’t responsible for it, so it all came out to around $75. Small price to pay to get out of the city.

I'd argue it is better than an escape.

But does it still have its rear shock towers?

Knock on wood.

I bet it would have had cruise control, grumble.

I am thinking and I think I’ve used cruise control once. The roads around here are so curvy and the only straight roads are full of stop and go traffic so times when you could just keep going the same speed for several miles are extremely rare.

I’m driving through northern Indiana today. Curvy roads are very rare. Tallest hills are landfills. Yeesh.

There is nothing wrong with straight roads, it just doesn't feel like home to me.
